They say the quality of a tradesman's work can be judged by the quality of his tools and the care he shows in keeping them clean and well organized. The thinking is that how one views one's work is transmitted to others through these details.
I feel you need not be a tradesman to reveal these truths, but might work in any occupation to see this rule come alive. If this axiom is true, you are about to show the world you are an ace at what you do, dear Virgo. You will soon prove to one and all that you are heading straight to the top of the charts.
I say this because Jupiter, the planet of good fortune, is about to make his once-yearly journey into a new zodiac sign, Aquarius, and a new part of your chart, your sixth house, on January 5. This is big news, for Jupiter has not been in this house of your horoscope for twelve years.
The part of your chart that your sixth house rules, and where Jupiter will now set up shop, rules your day-to-day work assignments and the methods and tools you use to get those projects done. Jupiter will help you find ways to become more organized, productive, and effective, and in the process, also a lot less stressed. Bring it on, you say, and rightly so!
As a Virgo, you are probably already well organized, but you understand that being so is an ongoing process that needs continual updating and rethinking. You tend to be a perfectionist, so you are always improving on your methods of organization and the way you approach various projects. When organization is working, the workflow becomes smooth. You know that doing so helps to reduce wasted time, allowing you to put your hands on a document you need to retrieve from your computer, a phone number from a business card, or a valuable document from your safe deposit box. This year you will raise to a high art your sense of organization and ability to retrieve things.
The organization of possessions is included here, too. You may be clearing out closets very soon and buying all sorts of new containers to hold and categorize various items you own at home and at the office. Once you start, they'll be no stopping you! Generally Virgo is not a hoarder of things - you probably invented the maxim, "When in doubt, throw it out!" This month and in months to come you'll prove to others that this is your credo. If you organize collections or data for a living, you will be quite a wizard in what you do.
With new technology comes the need to reconfigure old data, so in 2009, this will be on your agenda, too. For example, if you have various VCR tapes that you treasure, perhaps of family members, experts tell us that those VCR tapes will crumble over time and become unusable. This year will be the time to get those tapes digitized on DVR disks for archival safekeeping. In your office and at home, all these matters will be discussed, researched, and finally addressed, and you'll feel very satisfied and calmer after those tasks are done.
Any machines that are slowly breaking down will now show signs of wear and tear and may require a trip to the repair shop.
You will also take time to review the way you approach your day-to-day workload and find better ways to do the job, too. If you've always done things a certain way, with revolutionary Aquarius influencing you from now on, you may hit on another method that is much, much better! If at first your way seems weird to others, you won't care, nor should you. You will be thinking out of the box, and that's when innovations start.
You may even change the way your office furniture is set up, as well as the placement of your computer, telephone, and lamps after studying how you move around the office. By going through this process of rethinking everything, you'll enjoy your space more, and your projects will be done quicker and easier, and be more enjoyable to do, too.
With Jupiter moving into this sector, your everyday environment that you work in is likely to improve greatly. You may move to brighter, more spacious headquarters or your office may be painted and redecorated. The morale of all the personnel around you will improve, too.
I say this because Jupiter brings with him brilliant light, so as odd as this sounds, the illumination in your office may get dramatically better too, either because the office manager has ordered better task lighting or because you will move to an office with big windows that let in lots of sunshine. If you work at home, you may carve out proper space for your work by building a fully functional, comfortable home office with all the latest electronic equipment and provide yourself with a beautiful and calming environment.
Also with Jupiter now warming this sector in the digital sign of Aquarius, you're likely to get new computers with improved, updated software and other brand new gadgets and appliances that will allow you to feel organized and in control. Aquarius rules all newly invented electronics as well as all things digital. You may want to take several courses to be sure you can use your new digital equipment to your best advantage.
Jupiter's job is more than to simply improve things, but to make you excited and happy, too. Chances are, you will soon be bounding out of bed in the morning, eager to get to your office to use all your cool new stuff. Signs of this happening will probably show up next month when this trend grows even bigger.
You are a communicative sign, so with all the emphasis on digital forms, you may want to unveil a new or redesigned website this year or introduce a new blog. If so, you can work on your project in January and be ready to show it ideally in mid-February.
The reason you likely won't feel anything happening quite yet is that Mercury will be retrograde from January 11 to February 1, not a time to launch new ventures or to sign important papers. It is also not a time buy anything expensive, and certainly not any electronic items. (You must never ever buy electronics when Mercury is retrograde as Mercury rules moving parts.) If you are the boss who needs to requisition new office equipment, hold off until next month. Even though it may not be delivered for a while, you must not order it now. Do not install any new software now either.
If you are given an opportunity to join a new firm, see if you can wait until February to give your decision and to actually start. Starting new ventures while Mercury is retrograde is never wise because something will change that would undo your efforts or make you regret your decision as you move forward.
If you get an assignment, that's different. You can proceed because it is, in itself, a short-term situation. Even so, be absolutely sure about what your client would like you to do. Ask lots of questions and offer a summary of what you hear.
I will add that changing jobs now would not likely result in a promotion or exciting new job title this month or anytime soon, for this influence is not about a rise in status. It IS about doing your job better, and if you do manage to find a way to do that, you will be on the path to a promotion later, at the new moon on May 24 and the two weeks that follow. July and part of August will be important for talks about a promotion or step up to a better job, so be patient. When you change jobs at a new moon or eclipse in the sixth house, it's almost always a lateral move, not a step up.
If you need to hire more people in your department, ask your boss if you can do so, for it appears your boss will approve your request and has money in the budget for it. Not so long ago, you had to suffer through working in an office that had too few helpers, and so staying late and doing it all yourself had become the norm. Now all that will change, so speak up for what you need.
The best part about all this is that the kind of assignments you will start to get will be right up your alley. These assignments will take you places higher up, so you'll give them your all. If you are self-employed, the phone will ring with those who want you goods or services and it'll be heartwarming to see how in demand you have become.
To be sure you notice this huge tend, the universe has sent a friendly new moon solar eclipse on January 26 to kick things off. Wait until you see how busy it will be for you! All the areas you and I have been discussing in this report will become very big for you now. Eclipses are very dramatic, big events in a chart, and this one will fall very close to Jupiter, so the news should be excellent concerning all the things we've been talking about so far.
The sixth house, where all the action will be due to you this month and all year, also rules fitness and health, an area that appeals to you. No matter what level of fitness and health you are at now, you can now proceed to a whole new level if you start your new regimen just after the new moon solar eclipse on January 26. Most people begin their new sensible diet and exercise program just after January 1, but I would like you to swing into action in earnest later in the month, just after January 26.
Even if you are very fit (and most Virgos are) you can still find ways to strengthen parts of you that need a bit of bolstering. Find a new exercise class, or join a new gym that better fits your needs.
If you didn't always eat right over the holidays, you can now enjoy getting back into a healthier eating plan, one that is lighter and fresher. According to your aspects, even small changes would leave you feeling brand new. If you are about to try a new diet, with the emphasis on Aquarius, you may want to join a group online to help you continue.
Also, a digital pedometer may help you as well, as experts say walking at least 10,000 steps a day is an ideal goal to make. That's an easy goal, and soon you'll be racking up even more steps than that. (Even with my little weak left leg that has had so much surgery, I still am able to do 13,000 to 15,000 steps a week. Actually, my doctors aren't quite sure how that happens without pain but it does. I just laugh and say, "You guys have to become more optimistic about me!" I would never tell you to do something, dear Virgo, that I haven't road tested on myself.)
There is one day we haven't talked about yet that falls just prior to the big solar eclipse, a day I call "the luckiest day of the year" on January 23-24. (The aspect peaks so early on January 24 that I am urging everyone to consider January 23 as the day they should keep their eye on.) This day happens but once a year in a different part of the chart. You've not had a day like this one in your sixth house since 1997.
Again, on this day both the Sun and Jupiter will meet in the same part of your chart where all the action has been taking place so far. This would be an ideal day to buy a gym membership, start a new exercise class, or see a doctor for a diagnosis. In the latter case, a breakthrough may be possible due to something that was newly discovered or developed.
You may want to take a computer class (Apple store has free ones), choose your new computer to order in February, have talks about how to revise a website (especially an e-commerce site), choose new software, hire someone who reports to you or a high-tech consultant - you get the idea.
Now let's turn to romance, for this month won't be just all work and no play for you - not by a long shot! Your social life will be just as strong as your new developments at work!
When it comes to romance, your love life will glitter brightly all month, and doubly so in the first four days of January! As you enter your New Year, you may still be on a "high" over the enchanting experiences you may have experienced at the end of December. You had a rare and very powerful buildup of planetary support in your fifth house of true love, so if single, you may have met someone new.
See friends and circulate at gatherings during January 1-4, while you still have Jupiter, giver of gifts and luck, in your fifth house of true love. Ask friends to make introductions if you don't have any social events on your agenda. Or, consider giving a small party and asking your pals to bring along new people they would like you to meet.
If you are dating seriously or are in an established relationship, you may have noticed that the end of December started a light, easy romantic trend that is still glowing brilliantly in January. Each day can find you growing closer. Make it a point to simply have fun together. As a Virgo, you can be prone to analyzing things so much that you lose the meaning of the very question you are trying to understand! You won't necessarily understand how a butterfly flies if you take off its wings and poke at them with your tweezers. So this month, take a rest from thinking and enjoy feeling the way you did when you first met.
One day to watch if you are attached is January 9, when your partner is likely to thrill you with a piece of news or some sort of unexpected place he or she wants to take you.
While the first four days of January are special, you can enjoy all of January because you will host Mars in your area of true love all month. Never underestimate how powerful having Mars in your fifth house can be! Mars only visits this house once every two years.
Mars will set the stage for a whole new chapter in your personal love life. In order to help Mars do his work, you also need a new moon in that same area of your chart, and remarkably, you had that too, just a few days prior to the start of January. That gorgeous new moon appeared on December 27 and will still send you golden vibrations during the first ten days of January.
If you met someone at the end of December, your future with this person looks bright. If you didn't meet anyone, you might still, so keep talking and meeting - this could be someone you will want to know better! Never have I been THIS excited about your horoscope, dear Virgo! This is your time to find love, the very best month of all of 2009!
You will ALSO have the help of Venus, which is an awesome coincidence. Venus will enter your seventh house of commitment on January 3 to stay all month (not to leave until February 2). Wow! To have Mars in your house of true love and Venus in your house of committed relationships, in perfect angles to one another, is rare and special. It's a brilliant display of planetary energy, and one you will enjoy all through January. Gee, Virgo, you have everything going for you! January would be an ideal month to take a vacation.
If you have children, you'll have much more joyful interaction with them this month. Think of ways you could spend time together, and no matter what their ages, find little surprises you can do for them.
If you were thinking of having a baby, this would be a superb month to try for a pregnancy, to fill out adoption papers, or if you have had difficulty conceiving, to see a fertility specialist.
Here's a star-studded day to watch! The full moon on Saturday, January 10, will bring you to a festive gathering, filled with sparkling conversation and lots of friendly faces. You appear to be with plenty of people and having the time of your life. It's a day with bubbling conversation and lots of surprises, but all the right kinds.
If your birthday falls on September 13, plus or minus five days, you will feel this energy the most and love every minute of it!
Virgo rules small animals, and many Virgos adore pets. If you have been thinking of getting a new little furry creature, do so on January 23-24, one of your luckiest days of the year when you are likely to find one that truly suits you and your family. Mercury will be retrograde, so before you bring him home, you may have to wait to have a vet take a look at your little guy first, but even so, he would be worth the wait.
Before I go, I want to mention that creatively, you will do great work this month - some of your best. Mars will also see to it that you are unusually creative this month. If you are paid for your ideas, that's great, because you will find that you have no shortage of fresh concepts. Your imagination should be very rich now.
If you have a favorite hobby, you should absolutely spend time with it in January, for your output would surprise you in the best sense. Truly, you must take this influence seriously, for you'll see you are capable of much more than you think you are this month.
One of your best days to work on your hobby, or if you work in a creative field, to brainstorm, work alone, or present work to a client, would be on January 16-18. On those days Mercury will conjoin Jupiter, a lovely influence. You may have to make a few corrections later, but even so, Mercury and Jupiter will conjoin again next month on February 24 for the last time this year, another sterling time to make any needed fixes. Keep working at that idea!
What a darling month you have in store! If only you could see your chart! It's THAT wonderful. Aspects like these are rare, so use them to the hilt, dear Virgo!
Summary
Look forward to vastly improved working conditions where you work now or where you'll work next, thanks to the move of Jupiter, giver of gifts and luck, into your work sector on January 5, to stay one year. You may move into a sunny, spacious office, possibly one with a grand window and a view, or see new, shiny computer equipment be delivered soon.
If you need to hire people to report to you, you will find your new recruits to be gems. They will be hard workers who make YOU look great, too.
Co-workers will be equally cheerful and helpful in the office where you work in 2009, so much so that you may feel you fell into a parallel universe where every day is sunny. Generally people tend to grumble at their desks, but this year, the morale where you will work will be unusually high. That may be because business will be brisk, and everyone there will feel an important part of the process.
Mercury will be retrograde from January 11 to February 1, but you will feel the slowdown of Mercury much sooner than mid-month. Plan to rethink, readdress, and reassess your working methods and your plans this month, and be ready to act next month, no sooner than February 4.
Matters of health and fitness will glow all through 2009, but especially from the date of the coming solar eclipse, January 26 onward. If you are serious about bringing your fitness level up a whole notch (or more), you should begin your exercise and sensible eating plan in earnest at that time.
Your luckiest day of the year, January 23-24, favors any kind of medical consultation or procedure. You can also hire a trainer or nutritionist with delightfully positive results. This day can also be used to generate new business or to get a new freelance job or second job. The best part is that you'd love the work you do so much that you'd practically do it for free. The working conditions would be superb - even luxurious. These days would also be fine ones for choosing a new pet or for treating a pet you have now to a little tender loving care and attention from you.
This month zings with excitement when it comes to romance. You'll see this to be true the moment January opens, for January 1-4 will be super-strong for encouraging new love or helping you rekindle love you already have with a partner. Mars will keep the pace going all month, making January one of your banner months of the year for thrilling episodes in matters of the heart. If single, you must circulate as much as possible!
If you met someone over the holidays, it may be due to the gorgeous new moon that appeared just days before January on December 27, still exerting a strong flow as January opens.
If you are married, you may both talk about having a baby soon, and it would be a great time to do so. If you already have children, this month seems to be delicious fun with them. It really doesn't matter how old they are - tiny or grown - you'll love being with them. Find things to do that are out of the ordinary. Your activities need not cost a lot, for just sitting together and laughing could be enough to spin a golden memory now.
Having a good time seems to help your creativity, too. Whether if you work in a creative field or like to putter around with a hobby when home alone, this month you'll be very pleasantly surprised by your strong creative output. You must devote some time to your creative activities, as there may be profit potential, too!

Jupiter will move into digital Aquarius and boost your work methods, sense of organization, and working conditions: January 5 plus one year.
The total eclipse will bring new dramatic developments in work assignments and in terms of personnel who report to you or who are co-workers. You may get news of improved working conditions and computer equipment or software, and if self-employed, much more business. It should open a new path and it will be busy for you: January 26 plus six months.
If you need freelance work or a second job: Look just after the eclipse January 26.
Buy a new pet: January 23 or 24.
