Virgo Forecast for December 2014
By Susan Miller
The major career news is that the teacher-taskmaster planet Saturn will leave Scorpio this month and enter Sagittarius on December 23. While Saturn honed your communication talents while in your third house, your ability to write, edit, or do public speaking (or, all three) evolved beautifully. Although you may have assumed that over the years you would reach a plateau where you would not evolve any farther, you saw firsthand that if sharpening your skills was important to you, the lovely part about life is that we can always grow and improve, no matter what our age.
If you feel you didn't apply yourself to this area and are feeling bummed out about missed opportunity, the door will open one more time before Saturn says adieu, not to be back to your third house of communication until November 2041. (Yes, 2041, that is not a typo.) That last-chance opportunity will come June 14 until September 17, 2015, when Saturn will retrograde back into Scorpio.
This coming mid-year phase would be an ideal time to take a course in creative writing, screenwriting, or a class to perfect your grammar. (To Virgo, perfecting grammar in written work is practically a sport. My best magazine editors, by far, were all Virgos, although I have a superb editor now at Elle [print ? US] who is on the opposite end of the Virgo axis, for he is a Pisces. I love his edit - my work reads just as it did when it left my computer, with a little tightening and a little added sparkle wielded from his magic wand. I bet he has the moon in Virgo.)
From now on, and continuing for the lion's share of the coming three years (the only exception being the dates I just mentioned above, June 14 to September 17, 2015), you will be focused on your home. Once Saturn is done with its retrograde on September 17, 2015, Saturn will not leave Sagittarius until November 2017. When a big planet enters of the four "angles" of the chart - the first, fourth, seventh, or tenth houses - it is considered a powerful time. For you, Saturn will be at the very foundation of your chart, the fourth house.
You will start to see the effects of Saturn here fairly soon. You may decide to get serious about owning real estate, in terms of a house, condo, or co-op. Saturn often requires sacrifice and concentration on a goal, so you may have to give up such treats as frequent dining out or ordering up take-out food.
(Eating in may be okay with you, as Virgo likes to eat lightly to soothe your delicate digestive system, and you always insist on meals with high nutrition. I just read a statistic that was a bit scary - when any of us eat out, we eat an average of 200 more calories than we would have consumed at home, and this was true with every meal. I bet that number is on the low side, considering how much excess butter, oil, and cream is added to the average restaurant dish.)
Yes, it is true that Saturn will make you work toward your goal, but the rewards that Saturn brings are ones that last for decades, if not forever. The new moon last month in Sagittarius, November 22, plus two weeks, may have started you thinking about home ownership. If you already own your home, you might undergo a renovation now to make it more beautiful and to increase its value.
I recently had my entire apartment painted, and my Greek painter, Theo, pointed out that the contractors who built this skyscraper I live in had cut costs in ways most people would not immediately notice. For example, he told me I had silly doors. I was in shock. Silly doors? He told me, "What will your guests think of you, with your silly doors?" What could Theo possibly mean? Theo knocked on the door, and showed me that the interior doors were hollow and cheap. He said, "You need to replace the doors." I went online to find out how much it would cost to replace each door in my apartment, seven in all, including doors for each room and for closets, bathroom doors, and so forth.
Theo showed me where to look - he said I needed solid pine doors (raw unpainted wood) and that they were sold in home improvement "big box" stores. I was surprised that they were not too expensive, only about $109 each. They all had the little rectangle indentions that you see in classic interior doors. My "silly doors" were flat (no indentions) and looked ugly by comparison. My old doors didn't "click" impressively when shut in the way the solid pine doors could do. Theo volunteered to pick up the doors by putting them in his little truck, "to save you delivery costs." (He was so nice!) I knew I would never again have this kind of help to change my doors in my apartment. Sometimes you just have to act - quickly - even though this project was the last thing I thought I would have been doing this past summer, in the middle of a paint job!
Theo called in a door expert he knew to make sure each door would fit properly to the doorframe, for each door would need a little individual sawing to resize the door. Then Theo painted each door glossy white. (Most of my house is matte snow white, except my bedroom, a very pale periwinkle blue.) I had already bought crystal doorknobs a few years ago that I had been using on my "silly doors" and those fit perfectly into each of my new, more substantial doors.
All this was going on when I was so very sick, locked in my bedroom, door closed, with a home care nurse putting rubbing alcohol on my back to reduce my fever, to change my sheets, give me fresh nightgowns, and cook up a little soup for me to sip. (I had booked Theo a year ago because his methodical style puts him in big demand.) When it came time to paint, I was already quite sick but I figured, I had better do this!
Meanwhile, my assistant, George, was in the living room with a clipboard supervising the three helpers who were packing up my things in cardboard boxes with bubble wrap. It was a three-ring circus, but if you hire the right people, I know I could throw caution to the wind and trust all will turn out right. When it came time to paint my bedroom, I moved into the guest room. The paint we were using is the new technology paint that has no scent. The best part of painting is giving away things to make more room, and to organize things nicely. I always have all closets painted, even the big walk-in closets, for that is where you will find things you no longer need and can give away. Later, I asked my helpers to pack up those things to bring to charity.
Now that the project is over, all I do is look at my new doors. I open and shut them because I enjoy hearing the "click" when they shut, and I show my new doors to every friend who visits me. I can't get over how much of an improvement these doors made to my apartment. Theo was right! Friends say the doors make my home look even more inviting and "homey" than it did before. Who would have guessed? My point in telling you this is that sometimes you can make a big change at low cost that will leave you smiling afterward, for a very long time!
If you plan to buy a house, try to anticipate your future lifestyle to be sure you don't have problems paying your mortgage. As said, Saturn often asks for sacrifice, but you don't want that sacrifice to be too hard to make. If you can save up to put down a good down payment, you will pay less with each subsequent month. Saturn often asks you do something major to stabilize your life, so this would "fit" if it is your first property purchase. Become knowledgeable about mortgages by talking with your banker or financial advisor, by reading articles, and by perhaps talking with your family. If you already own your home, you may decide to invest in a vacation home.
An alternative way Saturn in the fourth house may work out is that you may be the one in the best position in your family to oversee the care of your aging mother or father. As I learned with caring for Little Mom, as she got older, there are many things to learn. I was fortunate in that my sister took over almost all of the day-to-day supervision, but we conferred on all big decisions. We did hire a lady, Ana, to live with Little Mom during Mom's last six years, to help with shopping, cooking, and so forth.
We lost Little Mom in September 2012, but what I learned is that care of an older person is a realm and subculture all of its own, and we all need to pick up skills and resources that we never needed before. (That is so very "Saturn.") The process matures you and makes you very wise, very quickly, because you have no other choice but to come up to speed with all that has to be done. My sister and I adored Little Mom, so we did all we could to make her later years fun and loving. One day, with no warning, she passed. We have no regrets, but we do miss her terribly.
Now let's turn to the start of the month, which will be packed with good news.
The full moon December 6 in Gemini 14 degrees, will bring evidence that when it comes to your career progress, your star is on the rise. That full moon will brilliantly light your tenth house of fame and honors. You may hear that you were awarded the prestigious job you had interviewed for and wanted so badly, or that you are offered a plum promotion that you never expected. This full moon will be in perfect harmony with Uranus, so news will come suddenly. Money has concerned you, for income has been gyrating, but in the first week of December, it appears money will come to you, and may be generous.
Two days prior to the full moon, December 4, money outside of salary may find its way to your bank account. You may be sent a commission, bonus, licensing fee, cash from a contest, venture capital, or a very attractive mortgage, refinancing plan, or home improvement loan from a bank, as a few examples.
December 5 could be a stellar day, when your ruler, Mercury will receive a golden beam from Uranus, turning you into a brilliant idea person. If you are writing an important document this month or taping anything on film, you will outdo yourself.
Another day, December 12, will also be incredibly special - even more so than December 5 - because Mercury will receive a "trine" (the most harmonious beam possible) from Jupiter, giver of gifts and luck. News will be spectacular and will again center on your ability to communicate in an articulate, creative way.
Over December 13-14, you will be luckier than a leprechaun when it comes to home related-activity. Over this weekend, browse new property, make a bid on a house or sell one, find an apartment to rent, or speak to your bank about a mortgage or refinancing plan. On this day, December 14, the Sun and Jupiter will give you the element of outstanding luck with any home-related plan you may be plotting. This is also a wonderful weekend to go shopping for new furniture or other things for the home. You will likely love what you find.
You may be stunned by a check you receive on December 20, when Mars (by then in your house of work) will signal Uranus in your house of other people's money. It's a grand day for finances, so keep your antenna up!
All though December, you will have lot of work to do at the office, due to the tour of Mars in your sixth house of tasks, from December 4 to January 12. It is possible that the tasks I see you doing will be ones you have to do for your personal life, but either way, you seem to have a list and check things off as you go along. If this is for work, you will be well compensated.
If you plan to travel on December 24, see if you can leave a day or two earlier. Mercury, ruling Virgo AND travel, will be in very hard angle to unpredictable Uranus. You are likely to be delayed in an airport or on the road or rail due to bad weather. Mercury also rules speech, so be careful about what you say to family, a friend, or lover - someone is likely to be on edge and have a complete meltdown if they construe your comment to be insulting. On December 24, try to avoid talking about a controversial subject and you'll be fine.
Here is the news you've been waiting to hear! Your love life will be on FIRE in late month, just in time for a happy holiday! The new moon, December 21, will fall in Capricorn 0 degrees, in your fifth house of true love. This new moon will bring along the Sun, Pluto, Venus, and Mercury - that's half the solar system - and will make sure romance will be all you dream it to be. If you are single, you must circulate, for your chances of meeting someone new have never been better. If you are attached, you will have plenty to celebrate this holiday season. No matter what your marital status, you will have fun in late December. Parties will proliferate, and some may get engaged or married for Christmas or New Year's.
If you are attached and hope to conceive, the powerful emphasis on your fifth house may make that dream a reality. The fifth house is not only the house of love, but also the house of pregnancy and birth, and covers adoption as well. If you have children, something special seems to be going on with one of them - something that will make you proud and happy.
If your birthday falls on August 23 plus four days, you will have a double dip of luck from this new moon - it may prove to be life changing! If you have your natal chart and know your natal planets, look to see if you have a planet in Virgo, Taurus, Capricorn, Pisces, Cancer, or Scorpio at 0 degrees plus four degrees. That planet will be lit up too, giving you more to celebrate.
New Year's Eve will be a night to remember too. The transiting moon will be in Taurus, a sign that is divine for Virgo. You might decide to take a trip with your spouse (and children) to welcome the New Year. Dear Virgo, are you excited yet? You have a spectacular month!
Wear your favorite office outfit and look authoritative during the first week of December because all eyes will be on you at the full moon, December 6. That full moon will light your tenth house of honors, awards, achievement, and fame - the only one of 2014 to do that. News is likely to come up suddenly as a complete surprise, and will bring the exciting final crystallization of an important career development. The position would have considerable responsibilities and make good use of your talents. The perks and benefits are likely to be generous too.
Mars will keep you pinned to assignments on the job all month, because Mars will enter your task-center when the red planet moves into Aquarius on December 4. You may work in a field that sees the highest demand for its goods and services at year-end, holiday time. No matter what, you will be thrilled that you will be so very productive.
You may have been saving up to buy a house or condo, or to renovate the space you have now. If you are young, you may be moving into your first rental apartment. Saturn will enter your home sector on December 23 for the first time since 1985-1988, to stay three years. This planet of self-discipline and hard work gets us ready to accomplish big goals that were previously beyond our reach. Although Saturn never sends rewards during the period he teaches you the ropes of your new venture, when he moves on, if you have worked diligently with Saturn's demands, you will have something impressive and long-lasting to show for your efforts.
Saturn will enter your home and family sector this month, December 23, 2014, until December 20, 2017. You will have a brief period - only one - where Saturn will retrograde back to Scorpio, June 14, 2015 to September 17, 2015. Otherwise, Saturn will tutor you on home and family goals for the lion's share of the coming three years.
Your chances for enjoying love and romance this month will be simply delicious, thanks to an especially friendly new moon December 21 in Capricorn. No less than five heavenly bodies will crowd into your love sector, including Venus, Mercury, Pluto, the Sun, and new moon. This is amazing, for you will have five out of ten heavenly bodies in your love sector. If single, you will sparkle at all the gatherings you attend, and you may meet someone new. If attached, you will have more fun with your partner than you've had all year.
Venus will enter super-compatible Capricorn and your most romantic house on December 10 to last until January 12. Late December will be the most sparkling time that you've seen for love in years. You need a new moon to get those planets to swing into action - you will have that new moon December 21.
New Year's Eve should be divine for you. The moon will be in compatible Taurus, and all the Capricorn planets will act like little girlfriends that want to see you happy. You may travel to ring in the New Year in a new setting, but even if you stay home, this year's celebrations are sure to be memorable.
Dates to Note: VIRGO
Most important dates for love, meetings, or actions Virgo: 3, 4, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18-22, 26, 30, and 31.
On December 4, Mars enters into your work and health area of your life, in the sign of Aquarius until January 12, 2015. You may find yourself putting in more hours at work and a drive to push yourself to new levels. Do try to get some extra rest in when you can so you can maintain your health.
On December 5, Mercury, your ruler, will get great support from Uranus. If you need a creative breakthrough, this is your day to brainstorm. You may hear of a large sum of money that's about to come your way.
December 6 is a full moon in Gemini and is a good time to promote a project you wish to gain attention and receive recognition. Enlist a team to help you with your project so that you can all benefit from your glorious project.
When Venus enters Capricorn from December 10 until January 3, 2014, if you are single and looking for love, this is great news. Start by taking steps to improve your appearance - having something new to wear, plus a fresh haircut, will make you feel like a million dollars.
You will love December 12, when Mercury and good fortune Jupiter cook up lots of good luck for almost anything you do on this day. Home and real estate interests shine brightly.
December 21, the new moon in Capricorn will bring fun, love, and socializing for an ideal holiday season.
From December 23 until December 20, 2017, when Saturn goes into Sagittarius, you will have an excellent opportunity to solidify your home and to be a big help to one of your parents.
New Year's Eve bodes so well for a fun celebration. The transiting moon will be in Taurus, assuring a romantic, happy night is in store.

P.S. for December 2014
Happy Birthday Astrology Zone!
Since December 14, 1995, 19 Years on the Internet!
I am very excited to see Astrology Zone reach her 19th anniversary!
I have learned so much since 1995, the year I started, and with each passing year I enjoy writing for you more and more.
This past year has been a big challenge for me due to my health condition,
but you stayed with me, and your steadfast encouragement helped me get well.
2015 promises to be a bigger and better year than 2014; that's good news for you.
Before I got sick, I had many surprises in the pipeline for you.
Next month I will be able to show you some of those projects that I kept moving forward,
despite my illness.
My progress was due to the kindness, and help of my partners.
The first project I was working on in January 2014, you may already know about:
It involved replacing my old apps (started in 2003) and introducing two brand new ones.
The world had changed, and it was time to write new code.
My new apps were announced in last September, one for iPhone and another for Android/Samsung. If you didn't get yours yet, they are free and you can download them now in iTunes or Google Play. All the early bugs that showed up in the iPhone app are fixed, and both the iPhone and Android/Samsung apps run flawlessly.
The graphics of my new, redesigned apps are beautiful. Happily, both new apps will resize to fit all your devices. Please check system requirements.
Once inside the app on your smart phone, you will have the option of subscribing to my longer content for $4.99 for one month or $12.99 for three months - you have overwhelmingly chose to subscribe for the third option, the yearly $49.95 subscription.
If you don't have a smart phone or if you live overseas, you can still subscribe to the same content that I write for iPhone, Android, and Samsung.

Check Out the Star Map Collection by Sequin
Last March, when I was still well, I was invited by Sequin executive women to look at an idea their talented New York City Sequin Design Studio had for a collection of pendants with an astrological theme. I immediately fell in love with the various astrological pendants, and they asked me to check to make sure all the designs and keyword descriptions of the signs to be used on their site were astrologically correct. I made a few changes to the keywords, but my involvement was very minimal. (Everyone, it seems, at Sequin reads Astrology Zone!) I love the quality of these beautiful pieces. Many girls layer several of these necklaces, using various lengths, and that's a great look too.
The pendants are all made in America and handcrafted by artisans using material components from around the world, and are so well priced that I feel they will fly out of their inventory. These necklaces are gorgeous. They are made of 22K gold-plated brass with antique finish and crystal details. I was impressed with the lovely chain that the pendants come with too, as it is tangle-proof and delicately made to look beautiful when worn. Whenever I wear my necklaces, I get so many compliments.
These necklaces make great gifts, and also would be a beautiful addition to your accessory wardrobe. I quickly chose those necklaces as part of my favorite things to give for holiday gifts, or for a friend's birthday. Imagine how surprised I was that Oprah had chosen this Sequin Star Map Collection as a part of her "favorite things" in her December issue! I was so happy for my new friends at Sequin and the incredible success of this new line of jewelry. It seems Oprah and I think alike!
If you order by December 15, you will get your gift by Christmas. Readers living overseas, please order by December 10 to allow extra time for shipping. Your necklace will arrive in a pretty gift box, perfect for gift giving. Remember to think ahead for upcoming birthdays and Valentine's Day - I know these necklaces are going fast!

A New and Important Book on Fashion and Style:
"365 Style" by Nicky Hilton
Wow! Amazon tells me you bought SO many copies of Nicky Hilton's book in November!
I love Nicky's book too! Here is my review in case you missed it last month!
There are many books on the market on fashion and style, and I admit, I have bought many of them. In this new book, Nicky Hilton, designer, author, entrepreneur, daughter of Rick and Kathy Hilton, and sister of Paris, has created a completely original, honest, and remarkably wise book on style. It comes complete with many color photographs, and in it Nicky shows you ways you can upgrade your own fashion style from good to style icon level. The goal is to sharpen your personal style by looking within, not by copying someone else's style. Nicky gets you started by showing you some of her favorite style icons, but only to get you thinking. She gives many stories and examples from her own life, and she makes you enthusiastic about going through your own wardrobe to find ways to amp it up. The title of the book refers to Nicky's suggestion that you consider 3 aspects of your lifestyle, and choose 6 staple items of clothing and 5 essential accessories. Doing that will instantly get you a stylish starting point.
Nicky has attended all the fabulous fashion shows in New York, Paris, Milan, and more in her young years, but her advice is down to earth and certainly does not require you have a trust fund. Just the opposite, her tone is one of a best friend going through your closet and handing you advice that is at times funny but always wise. Certainly a lot of what Nicky says makes you think. In one chapter, she advises, "Always dress like you are going to meet your worst enemy" (i.e, bumping into the ex-boyfriend who betrayed you, or the mean girl in high school who made your freshman year a terror.) Nicky gives many examples of her own life and shows how running into that old boyfriend looking like a million because she had taken just a little extra time with her appearance on the way to meet girlfriends for a casual Mexican dinner gave her a happy boost during that unexpected nano-second on-the-street encounter.
With each page, you will rethink your own wardrobe and habits, and occasionally Nicky will casually toss out the very advice you needed most. When it happens, you will feel like you were hit by a thunderbolt. I enjoyed her advice about dressing for a first date, meeting his parents, and more, and all along she gives you many vignettes that allow you to see her own lifestyle. Those peeks into her own life allow you to understand why she has the authority and experience in her early thirties to write this wonderful jewel of a book.
She has advice on such things as:
- The $30 wardrobe item you can't live without.
- The one closet accessory that keeps everything organized at all times.
- Five must-have wardrobe items, all affordable.
- How to pack a suitcase like a jet-setter.
I feel you will enjoy this book and get much from it. Just click here to order your copy:
