Virgo Horoscope for June 2013

Ever since Jupiter entered Gemini and your house of honors, awards, and achievement, you may have been racking up successes in your career. Now, as Jupiter gets ready to leave this part of your chart on June 25, you still have time to score another victory, and it might just be your biggest one yet. The dignified Sun is coming to wish good fortune planet, Jupiter, adieu, and the Sun will be accompanied by Mars and the new moon. All will be in Gemini, including Jupiter. The Sun entered Gemini last month on May 20, Mars enters Gemini on June 2, and the new moon will arrive to package all the energy with the new moon in Gemini, 18 degrees, June 8. With four powerful heavenly bodies in your house of fame, if you've been handing in smart, focused work over the past year, this will be a month of considerable professional reward.

On the very first day of the month, you may get good news about your career and money - you may see a rise in status, and a commission, bonus, or a fine company benefit (like health insurance, more vacation time, and the like) come to you, too. June 1 is a Saturday, but perhaps you have signed a contract previously that may start then, or a new position that would start at the beginning of June, and your good money would likely kick in then, too. With Uranus sending beams to the Sun on June 1, you will encounter a surprise, too - some sort of good press or other good news will delight you as the month kicks off.

One of your biggest days in early June will be the new moon, June 8, so again, your career will get a shot of caffeine. I don't think you will expect to hear the good news that comes up on this day or in the days to follow. Again, Uranus is about to send a friendly thunderbolt to put your professional interests in high gear. New moons open new doors, and this one will want to see you rewarded for all the fine work you've done in the past year. This new moon falls on a Saturday, but you will feel it on Monday, June 10, all the way through Wednesday, June 19, for new moons are operative for at least ten days, with the strongest days closest to the day it appears, June 8.

If you see an ad listed for a position you feel you'd be right for, then by all means, send your letter and resume to pitch that job over the weekend of June 8-9.

Mercury will be in hard angle to Uranus on the same day as the new moon, June 8, suggesting that actually nabbing the new job may NOT be a snap. Mercury is your ruler, so it seems unpredictable Uranus may throw a few stones in your path. I want you to keep your antenna up, for if you walk in assuming you already have the position, you won't try as hard - not good. I want to you to fight passionately for the position you want - no slacking off. Fortunately Mercury orbits as quickly as a little jackrabbit, so Mercury won't stay in hard angle to Uranus long. By Monday, June 10, Mercury will have moved into a better, safer position.

You have a spectacular day coming up, June 19, a day I call the luckiest day of the year, when the Sun has his annual meeting with Jupiter. Like two dignified men renowned in their careers, there's always a buzz when the mighty Sun and good fortune Jupiter are seen having dinner together. Each year, Jupiter and the Sun choose a different sign in which to meet. This year they will meet in Gemini in your tenth house of honors, awards, achievement, and fame on June 19. Wow, what a great time to get good news about your career! You can give a presentation or have an interview, start a business, or launch a new product.

This luckiest day of the year aspect will peak on June 19 in New York at 12:00 PM noon EDT. I would like you to catch this aspect as it is still building and not yet peaked. After the aspect peaks, it begins to separate (where Jupiter and the Sun stand on the sidewalk outside the restaurant, shake hands, say goodbye until next year, and turn to go their separate ways.) To catch the luckiest day of the year as this aspect builds, you must use Monday, June 17, or Tuesday, June 18. You can use June 19 too, depending on your location. If on the East Coast of the US, have your meeting in the morning, prior to noon.

If you live in Asia, the luckiest day may well go to June 20. (All the days I mention in AstrologyZone tend to go an extra day in Asia and Australia.) Compare noon hour in New York City EDT with your city on the world clock on the Internet, and make a note of it. In the US, the West Coast, say, Los Angeles, will have this conjunction at 9 AM, so unless you can have a breakfast with a client at 8 AM (allowing a little time before the aspect peaks), it may be best to have your meeting on June 18.

Actually, you may start to hear good news a little before these days, for Mars will be in gorgeous aspect to surprise-a-minute Uranus on Sunday, June 16. You may get clues of how your star is on the rise as soon as Friday, June 14.

Mercury will go retrograde on June 26, so try to stay far away from that day - you will start to feel the slowdown earlier. Mercury is your ruler, so after Mercury starts to sleep, you should not have any big initiations on your schedule. Mercury will not go direct until July 20 next month. If you need to buy a computer, smart phone, major kitchen appliance, or other electronic, do so early in June, but not on June 8. Here is why:

Although Mercury will not be retrograde yet, do NOT shop or sign papers June 8, for Mercury, which also rules commerce, will be in hard angle to Uranus, the planet ruling electronics (besides being the planet that is known to be unpredictable in a bad way when in hard angle to other planets). June 8 not a good day to sign things, so plan to lie low. Observe, and listen, but do not act until June 10. You may get jarring news about money or something having to do with your career, so you will need to be free to deal with that instead anyway. I still maintain that the new moon June 8 will bring in new opportunities for you to go after, so open the window and see what flies in. I am excited about that new moon for you!

Love and your private life will take all your attention within four days of the full moon, June 23. This moment could bring a tender moment, where you share feelings and plan for the future. Saturn will be beautifully positioned to the full moon, so you will be thinking long range - I feel you will be happy. You may have a very special social event to attend or you may travel with your sweetheart. Neptune will be beautifully angled to this full moon, so you may experience quite a romantic episode with your one-and-only love. If you hope to have a baby, you may find out you (or your wife) are pregnant at the full moon (or if you are pregnant now, and due soon, the baby would come at this time.) This full moon will be your moment to shine.

If you have had a creative project that you've been working on, chances are, it will come to a finish at the full moon, so that could be another way this full moon delivers its message to you. Saturn's gift of longevity suggests this project could establish your talents in your industry, and Neptune could see to it that you get much positive publicity on TV, print, and Internet. This project's success will only spur you on to bigger successes.

If your birthday falls on August 24, plus or minus four days, you will feel this full moon the most, and benefit most from it. Also, if you have your natal chart, check to see if you have a planet or moon within five degrees of 2 degrees of Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn, or Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces - that planet will benefit, too. Make a note of it on your calendar and keep your notes. You will begin to see a pattern over time.

Venus will be in Cancer most of the month, too (June 2 to June 26), a beautiful, soft, and sentimental place for Venus to be for you. You will, however, encounter one day that won't be at all good for love - June 12 - when Venus and Uranus will clash in a very hard angle. Stay away from that day, and your other days should fun. It's a good month to improve your appearance and to buy some new clothes to perk up your morale - just stay away from the days after Mercury begins to retrograde, June 25!

Finally, a rare, sparkling triangle will appear in the heavens this month (as early as the first week, and stay), linking your ninth house of travel, your seventh house of partner (for those committed or going together a long time), and your eleventh house of hopes and wishes and friendships. This triangle will click into even tighter calibration in July - you will hear me talk about it again, as it is a bouquet the universe is sending us all in 2013 (a big feature of the year) to revive our hopes and give us all an unexpected jolt of joy. This golden triangle, linking the energies of Neptune in Pisces, Saturn in Scorpio, and Venus / Mercury in Cancer, should give you a wonderful time to travel, dear Virgo, because water signs blend so well with your earth sign element.

As you see, you have lots to look forward to in June, so don't let the news that Mercury will soon retrograde get you down - Mercury will give you more time to sharpen your aim. Anyway, if my calculations are right, you may be enjoying a significant career victory by month's end and be too busy to even care that Mercury is going out of phase.

Summary

June will be a landmark month for your career, and you can now make some of the most impressive professional progress that you've made in years. With Jupiter, the great good fortune planet, still in your house of career, flanked by Mars, the Sun, and new moon on June 8, you have all the elements you need to make your mark on the world! Don't expect things to be easy however, as you will have to keep your wits about you and not rest on your laurels. Keep fighting for any new position you are interviewing for at the time.

These planets are all in Gemini, but Gemini's ruler (and yours) - Mercury - will be in hard angle to Uranus on June 8, too. It may be that you will be disappointed with the perks and benefits offered, but the salary might be generous and make you happy. As you interview, avoid talking about compensation for as long as you can, especially in regard to bonus and vacation days, health insurance, and pension plans. Let your new employer get to estimate your value to the company first. The position itself seems to involve your talent for communication in writing, speaking, editing, proofing, research, translating, coding for Internet and telecommunication, and other related skills, as many planets will tour Gemini, which rules these areas.

This will be the last time Jupiter will travel through your tenth house of fame and honors until it returns in May 2024 for another twelve-month visit. (Yes, you've had Jupiter for a full year by this month, but you will have the most help in June that you've had in any month so far.) If there is a VIP you'd still like to see, or a position you'd like to pitch, see if you can do so prior to the date Jupiter leaves, June 25, for it is in early June that bodes best for planting seeds for your professional future.

Your very luckiest date for career will be June 19, and the two days leading up to that date, June 17 and 18. Of the three days, with Mars in perfect angle to Uranus on June 17, it appears you'd get the compensation package set "just so" on this day, which will please you to no end. Once Jupiter moves on June 25, your social life will pick up in many ways and forms, with new people pouring into your life through many different doors.

In late June, romance will be the topic of the day on or near the full moon, June 23, when you may travel a short distance for the weekend. Pluto will be friendly to the full moon and bring a possible transformational, exciting emotional event. With Saturn also adding comforting stability, you may see your romantic life reach a new level of closeness and stability.

This month a gorgeous triangle will appear in the sky in June, to become even tighter and mathematically significant by July. This beautiful triangle will link travel and your hopes and wishes in your house of love, and this points to your one-and-only love - sounds divine! (If you have no one special, you may meet someone then.) You need not travel far, but you should consider a trip to a beautiful place near water. You may be surprised how much fun and tenderness you experience. If you hope for a baby, June or July may bring the stork flapping your way.

Another possibility exists, that you may be centered on a very important creative project that will near a finish near the full moon, June 23, and that it will become so well received that it establishes you on a new level. If you need representation, say, in terms of an agent or lawyer, you will meet several possible candidates, and the right person may appear within four days of the full moon. With Jupiter conjunct the Sun, a VIP will speak well of you, and gates should open for you from this point on.

This will be a major month for career developments, thanks to four heavenly bodies in Gemini, including the new moon, June 8, influential for the ten days that follow.

Mars will continue to light your house of honors and awards until July 13. Make the most of this once-in-two-year boost of Mars.

You may have to adjust your timetable or feelings for a partner this month, due to the turn of Neptune retrograde from June 7 to November 13.

Jupiter will leave your career sector on June 25, so if there is anyone you need to see about a position, promotion, or a business idea, do so early in June.

Once Jupiter leaves Gemini and enters Cancer, Jupiter will light your house of friendship and usher in a much more relaxed, fun period to last until July 16, 2014. You can expand your circle of friends enormously during that period.

Venus will be in Cancer too, from June 2 to 27, adding a touch of beauty and luxury to at least one social event.

Mercury will be retrograde June 26 to July 20. Mercury is your ruler and has a larger effect on you than others.

A romantic experience is shaping up over the full moon weekend, June 22-23 or shortly thereafter.

If you planned to marry or make a business partnership official, you may delay the date when Neptune goes retrograde, June 7 to November 13.

To celebrate the debut of Mad Men's sixth season, the editors at indie pop culture magazine PAPER called on me, Susan Miller, to do the natal horoscope charts of three of the show's main characters: Don Draper, Joan Holloway, and Peggy Olson, as show writers had clearly mentioned each of these particular character's birthday in the script during the course of the five seasons of the show. I was also asked to compare two charts for Don Draper - that of his actual biological birthday (when he was born Richard "Dick" Whitman) and that of the birth date he adopted after assuming the name and identity of 'Don Draper.'

I look the information and chose a birth city and time of birth for each of the three fictional characters. I did this based on bits and pieces of information revealed about each character over the show's many seasons. (Note that I did not do the charts of the actors who played the parts in Mad Men - that would have been an entirely different article. I focused only on the three fictional characters.)

In the past, I have been called on by Hollywood to collaborate with writers in character development because astrology, with its firm structure and fascinating layers of complexity, can show clearly the intricate shadings of personality. At the same time, I can help a writer maintain the integrity of the character. Astrology can be a rich source of fascinating information about a person's makeup - this is true whether the person is fictional or real.

To be clear, the Mad Men writers did NOT call on me in advance to help in character development for the show, although as I just mentioned, I have done this for other writers not connected to this show (and whose names will remain private). This was my first time to discuss a character AFTER the character's personality had been strongly developed over time!

This was a lot of fun. I not only looked at the personality of the three Mad Men characters, but when appropriate, I looked to the future to add some of my own ideas of what might come next for each character.
