Pisces Horoscope for August 2010

The first week of August might turn out to be quite stormy for your finances. Planets will be in a very belligerent mood and together will form a very difficult grand cross pattern in the heavens that will become exact over August 6 and 7.

Mars, Venus, and Saturn will be in your eighth house of credit, loans, and taxes and will directly oppose Jupiter and Saturn in Aries in your second house of earned income and personal resources. This alone will cause six oppositions, but add Pluto, standing 90 degrees away from both sets of planets in Capricorn, and having a tug-of-war with the moon at the very same time the other planets are yelling at each other, and you have a total of seven oppositions and ten squares. That's breathtakingly challenging, but it also provides the push all of us need to reinvent ourselves and create a completely new path.

Every planet involved in the cross - Pluto, Uranus, Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Venus, the transiting moon (in Cancer) - will be in cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. All will be within a very tight mathematical tolerance of five degrees, forming what we call a perfect cardinal cross. If you were to look at it, it would form a box shape with a big X in the middle, and that X would be underscored several times. This aspect will create enormous energy, create challenges, and force us all to make certain changes.

Pisces, you are not a cardinal sign but a flexible mutable sign - but everyone of every sign has cardinal signs guarding certain houses of their horoscope. For you, cardinal signs are on your second and eighth house of money, your eleventh house of friendships and community, and your fifth house of love, children, and creativity. To say that love, friendship, and money won't mix well is an understatement. You may finally get to the end of your rope with a friend or lover who wants a lot from you but gives you little or nothing in return.

If your child needs money, that's a harder situation, because every Pisces' heart melts when their child looks at them with big eyes and asks for money. It doesn't matter if your child is 10 or 30, it's hard to say no - and I agree! I am not sure any parent could say no.

Pluto in Capricorn, a big money sign and planet, is playing a central role in this cardinal cross, because he is about to be angry at the planets in Aries (Jupiter, Uranus) and all the planets in Libra (Mars, Venus, and Saturn) and oppose the little transiting moon in Cancer. We have not seen a cross pattern this extreme in our times (going back 500 years), and in the future, I could not see anything like this again our lifetime either. It is unlikely we will feel everything immediately because a cardinal cross will exert energy over a very long period. It is not like any pattern you've experienced before, although there was a fixed cross on August 16-17, 1999. I do feel that on the world stage you may see the stock market rock on or very close to August 6.

In your own life, if a friend keeps promising to pay back the money she borrowed from you or otherwise owes you, but never delivers, you may come to the end of your rope during the first week of August. Although you have been able to earn good money lately, you seem to also have a lot of money going out that you are using to satisfy certain major financial obligations. This means your financial situation is not as stable as you'd like it to be.

It seems obvious that you've been generous and tolerant of someone close in love or friendship. Actually you may have more than one needy person in your life, say, a friend who always needs favors that somehow involve money, and a lover who keeps asking you to write the check. Now, however, with a cardinal cross creating additional tension, you are beginning to feel manipulated and taken for granted.

For a Pisces to get to this point is saying a lot - you rarely, if ever, get to this point! You might be ready to give up a friendship if necessary. For Pisces to be saying "enough" is truly a radical development. Good! It's time, dear Pisces. You can try to salvage the relationship if you like or leave without looking back. In this case, you seem to know your own mind! I want you to know I will support your decision, whether you choose to stay and try to fix things, or say, "We're done."

If you do stay, you must make it clear you cannot be taken advantage of again.

Mars is among the planets in your eighth house of credit, which indicates just how determined you will be this month to get your finances in order. If you got an extension on your taxes, you may be diligently putting your figures together for your accountant, or even interviewing a new accountant.

Mars can also bring disputes, so if you are in court over a financial matter, or in the process of a divorce, talks may get heated, and August 6 or 7 may be a turning point. You might want to take deliberate steps to keep things calm but it may be hard to do so!

In early 2011, your finances will steadily improve quite a bit (as they probably have in June and July), so be optimistic. The steps you have taken will rid you of the recurring cash flow problems that have caused you such stress. Still, Saturn is staying in this eighth house of taxes, credit, commissions, severance, court settlements, credit and loans, mortgages, and refinancing plans until October 2012. Alas, you will have to be conservative and careful in the coming two years. Once you learn what Saturn is trying to teach you, you will find this trend easier to take.

More interesting work assignments seem to be coming your way as of the new moon, August 9, plus two weeks. Those new projects may instantly help your financial situation. If you are self-employed, business should be popping, and if you work for others, you will find you are in line for some of the most coveted assignments in your department.

If you are self-employed, help things along by doing a little extra advertising and publicity. If you work for a company, you can ask to meet with your boss to see if you can be assigned something new and different (and a bit more sophisticated) to show her just what you can do and how valuable you can be in the future.

To be clear, this new moon will appreciably affect your professional status now - see it as a stepping stone to more in the future. If you were to change jobs now, you would find yourself on the same level as you were previously - in other words, you'd make a lateral move. That seems pointless UNLESS you are currently in a very bad situation at work (such as, you work for a terror of a boss) or you are currently out of work. In cases like these, you may want to take a new job.

It may help to know you will have ideal conditions for stunning career advancement in November and early December. In those months, you truly will scale new heights, with a better title and more responsibility. If you are self-employed, you'll again position yourself in your industry as quite a leader, and that will help you generate more business. So for now, do a good job on current projects on your desk, for they will count toward your big promotion later, before 2010 is out!

Your health and fitness can take a big stride forward at the new moon August 9 as well. If you feel you've spent too much time relaxing and not enough time exercising, this new moon will give you the impetus to get started on a new program that will show results by time you're ready to buy new things for the coming season.

August is also a great time to get your teeth cleaned, eyes examined, blood pressure checked, and all those other little health checkups that you know you need to do to stay in tip top condition. It seems unlikely you'll be traveling so while you have the time, make those appointments.

Some Pisces have been concerned about a health condition or allergy, and if that includes you, Neptune's position could make a correct diagnosis tricky. This only means you will need to go through a slightly longer process of elimination until your doctor hits on the right answer. Ahh, where is Dr. House when we need him? Alas, we can't always find him and anyway not all hard-to-diagnose cases can be solved as quickly as Dr. House does, in a one-hour TV episode, so be patient!

New medicine prescribed for you could have a stronger than usual effect too, so ask about possible side effects. Collaborate with your doctor to find the best dosage at the onset. If you often retain water, lower your salt intake this month while Neptune's presence is strong.

Sometimes when there are lots of planets in the eighth house as you have, surgery comes up. You might schedule your surgery with your doctor or dentist. That's fine - you can proceed, although, as you will see later, Mercury is about to retrograde from August 20 to September 12. You may want to schedule your procedure before Mercury turns, but if you have an emergency, don't worry - it's just the universe's way to correct something that went wrong and needs to be righted. The money discussions around you in this case might have to do with the insurance money you will be awarded by your health care provider to pay the hospital and doctor.

The only surgery I would ask you to delay would be elective surgery, say, for plastic surgery, which is not really necessary in most cases, unless it's to work to correct a burn or something really serious. Venus, ruling beauty (even for men), will retrograde from October 8 to November 17, another truly dreadful time for scheduling elective plastic surgery. After that, Mercury will be retrograde again December 10 to 30, but you will feel the delays the minute the month begins. By all means, put off unnecessary plastic surgery for after the year-end holidays.

The glorious full moon will fall in your sign, Pisces at 1 degree, so that means something of enormous importance is coming to culmination for you on or within four days of August 24. You may get help from an influential friend at that time, for Pluto will be so beautifully angled to that full moon. It is also possible that you may be attending quite an event within days of August 24.

If your birthday falls on February 20, or within four days of this date, you will enjoy the effects of this full moon - you'll get a double dip of luck!

Mercury will retrograde from August 20 to September 12 in your personal partnership sector, so an old problem may rear its head again. It may be a grievance that you or your partner 1) never brought up and never talked about, or 2) did talk about but that one of you assumed was settled, or 3) talked about but even so, you knew never really got solved because it keeps coming back like Ground Hog Day, over and over. Be cheerful, because this time you may find the right answer, dear Pisces.

Another way Mercury retrograde might affect you is that you may change your mind about a present or former partner, one way or the other. Mercury rules objective thinking, so you may have a new perspective on your partner. This person may be someone in business or a personal partner.

When it comes to love, if you are attached or dating seriously, you will have the favorable edge. Of course, money could be a topic of concern, but don't let it spoil your relationship, dear Pisces (not unless you feel your partner has completely gone over the line).

If you are single you will have so much on your mind this month (mostly about money), it might be hard to calm down enough to be in the mood to meet new people. Once Jupiter returns to Pisces on September 9, and better yet, when Mercury regulates its orbit on September 12, you will be far better positioned to meet the one who is right for you. This month, take it slow and easy, knowing you are moving into much better, brighter days.

In the meantime, this month, your best moments will tend to fall at month's end. Here are your happiest dates: August 2, 14-15, 20, 24, 25, 29, and 30.

Summary

Pisces is not a materialistic sign, but sooner or later you realize if you don't send out checks, everything in your life will come to an abrupt halt. Money is, if you think about it, stored energy, and for Pisces, often is accumulated through some form artistic or creative expression. This month your expenses will be high, so you'll need to pay more than usual attention to cash flow. Expenses will simmer down in mid-September, so there will be an end to all this number crunching.

The cardinal cross on August 6-7 may find you at an end of patience for those who expect you to be their source of money in every instance - some are not even real emergencies. You are a kind soul, but sometimes even you have to find the courage to draw the line and say, "Enough!" Friends and even a lover who assumed you'd never turn them down for a favor may have a jolt of an awakening when you show you won't be taken for a doormat anymore. Indeed, come August, you will show you mean business.

The financial pressures on you are causing you to feel this way, but it's all for good. You have been taken for granted by at least one person so when you call an end to all this, it might actually help the person you are dealing with to shape up.

In terms of your financials, Jupiter is still in your house of money, so it appears that for the first time in a long while, lots of cash is coming in to you, but plenty seems to be going out, too. If you should be lucky enough to discover a new steady pipeline of money this month (possible), hoard as much as you can for as long as you can, because your financial forecast through the rest of the year is erratic. Seeing a nice sum of money in your bank account can be quite comforting - and a new experience for a sign as disinterested in money as yours! I will say your financial outlook in the first five months of January 2011 will be superb, so keep working toward your goals.

Whether you are self-employed or not, assignments are on the way to you, and will show up just after the new moon, August 9 plus two weeks. You may want to stay in town to scoop them up in the two weeks that follow that new moon, for the pay should be generous and the work quite interesting. Neptune will be opposite that new moon and allow you to put your own stamp of individuality on your work - always good news to a Pisces!

Keep in mind that Mercury, ruling your relationships, is about to turn retrograde, August 20 to September 12. You may go back to an old problem with your partner that you know that never was resolved. Now you may hit on a new, much more workable solution. Or, you may change your mind about a present love, or go back to reconcile with someone you once loved. Mercury wants you to become more reflective. You can now repair, restart, or rejuvenate a relationship.

It is never a time to sign papers, make major announcements, or buy electronic products and gadgets or anything else expensive while Mercury is retrograde. The world will be in flux, so wait until you can see which way things are going - you will have a better idea in late September.

Your health will get a big boost at the new moon August 9 too, making it one of the best points of 2010 for you to reform your lifestyle, giving yourself the present of better health. Join a gym, hire a trainer, learn a new sport, see a nutritionist, or join a weight group - you decide.

If you have a condition that needs to be diagnosed, it might take a little longer than you supposed, so just hang in there. It will be worth the wait when your doctor finds the answer.

On August 24, the full moon will fall in Pisces - the only one of the year. In this divinely romantic and affirming moment of the year, operative within four days of this date, Neptune will invite this beautiful glorious moon to a waltz among the stars.

At this full moon, you will get a chance to revel in who you are and where you are headed. It's OK to be a little self-centered now - gosh, you rarely are that way. By taking care of yourself, you will be better able to help others later. Pluto will support you too, in the form of outstanding support from an old friend. The tide is truly turning to your favor, dear Pisces, and this month you'll know this fact like you know your name.

Dates to Note:

Money matters could be very stressful from August 6 to 13, due to a gang of planets bent on setting up a difficult situation through the formation of a rare cardinal cross.

Mercury will retrograde in your partnership sector from August 20 to September 12, so you may change your mind about someone you are dating, or revise a plan you agreed on with a present partner.

The new moon in your work sector August 9 may bring news of a new assignment or client that could be quite exciting and creative. It may pay well, too!

The new moon will also be a good time to dive into a fitness program that works - you seem VERY motivated, and besides, exercise will help you reduce stress, too.

Romance will be a key theme at the tender full moon in Pisces on August 24. With Neptune prominent, the episode you will experience could make you feel like the star of your very own movie.

Something of enormous personal importance to you will come to fruition at this full moon, August 24. You may see yourself in a new light after this moon has faded.

Best romantic dates: August 2, 14-15, 20, 24, 25, 29, and 30.

Come see me, Susan Miller, and get a personal one-on-one horoscope reading with me! This charity is dear to my heart. As you may already know, in my past, I have been through two harrowing surgeries to correct a birth defect that involved excessive bleeding on my left leg. In the first surgery, at age 14, I was in the hospital for eleven months, and the second time, in 1992, I was in for eight months. During all my surgeries, so far in life I have I received a total of 38 blood transfusions.

I am fortunate - all the blood I received was wholesome and untainted, and because of that, I am alive today. In the early days of the disease, when the medical community was still learning how to properly test donated blood for AIDS, some hospital transfusion recipients got AIDS. Among the most notable was Elizabeth Glaser, who contracted the disease from receiving a blood transfusion after giving birth. Before she died at a young age, she became an effective AIDS activist and raised quite a bit of awareness for the disease. Most of us know people who are no longer among us who have fallen victim to this disease. More work needs to be done. Being a very lucky girl, I will always try to find ways to say thank you to the world, and to God, for protecting me. As you see, AIDS is a charity close to my heart. Please come and help me raise quite a bit of money for this charity!

So mark the date - the evening of September 10 in New York City. Henri Bendel has planned quite an array of sparkling events for that evening - all very unique and fun - and I am only one small part of their activities. Congratulations to author Derek Blasberg for his cool new book "Classy."

I have been so busy lately that it's been hard to sit down to read a book. Still, when I heard that Derek Blasberg had recently written "Classy" and it was hitting high notes at the New York Times, I knew instantly I wanted to read it. Derek grew up in St. Louis, but graduated from New York University with a major in Dramatic Literature and Journalism.

Anyone familiar with the downtown, uber-hip scene in New York City will soon hear about Derek. He is one of the cool, young arbiters of taste here in the same way that creative director Joe Zee at Elle magazine has become. (If you watch The City on TV, you know Joe.) Derek edits a regular column at Style.com, so you get the picture.

This is an ultra-modern book of etiquette aimed at a modern young woman born into an age where things are changing at the speed of light. With so much new technology to enjoy and discover, and social networking changing the way we think and communicate, questions of what's right, what's wrong are inevitable - and yet surprisingly tough to sort out. When is a skirt too short? When, or if, is it OK to answer a cell phone at a meeting? What about breaking up a romance - what are the new rules? On Facebook, how can you avoid being a victim of TMI (too much information) versus just being friendly? Derek Blasberg tackles it all.

His chapters are written in such a compelling way, curiosity leads you to wander in, and once there, you'll find you stay there. I first opened the book to this chapter, "Some Notes on New Places: Whether you're crossing the street or crossing the ocean, it's good to keep a few things in mind when you've changed your location." How can you not read on?

Yet Derek never tricks you - his chapter heads deliver the goods he promises, which is more than I can say for some tabloid magazine blurbs these days. Derek's advice is substantial, very honest, and always thought-provoking. Even when his advice is delivered in humorous form, which is frequently, he manages to make solid sense, and may even coax you to see things from a completely new perspective.

I particularly loved his chapter that lists "Fashionable Films to Know." There's another chapter, right after it, called "Fictional Characters to Know (in Books You Should Read)." I am a sucker for these kinds of lists, because I love to see what other people enjoy - I might get an idea. In this case, I got lots of new ideas of classic books to read and classic films to see that somehow (no idea how) I missed.

"Classy" is billed as the perfect handbook for the very young woman of Gossip Girl age, but honestly, I feel this book is for anyone, including me. Here is the link to Amazon to get it. Simply Text "AZP" to 46966

Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile customers: When you text AZP to 46966, you will receive a text message back with step-by-step instructions on how to download the application.

Example: Verizon customers are told to go to "Get it Now," then "Tools on the Go," then "Mind, Body & Soul," and then select Astrology Zone Premier. So, Verizon customers will have to actually exit the Text Message and go back into the menu on their phone. This is something that you, as a Verizon customer, have to do to get any application, so it's not a new process, and it's worth the effort!

AT&T and Sprint customers: When you text AZP to 46966, you will receive a text message back that includes a link to the application. It is a more direct process than the one outlined above.

Not all phones are equipped to take the new technology, so check first with your provider and explain which phone you own. If you purchased a cell phone in the past year, chances are your phone is ready.

Every carrier sets their own rates, so check with your provider to find out what Astrology Zone Premier would cost for you. I can say it's very affordable, and that I give you much more information than competitive services.
